Meet the Farmers

Josh

Picture
The owner of Red Ledge Farm, Joshua Tefft, has been raising animals since 2005.  Starting with laying hens, meat chickens and turkeys, Josh learned the basic principles of good animal husbandry.  In 2007 Josh helped run a family owned meat and seafood market.  Josh soon realized that local farmers could produce a much higher quality product for the consumer.  Josh then began raising cattle to sell as a custom slaughter service.  Josh learned to butcher and created a farm to table service where he was controlling a majority of the process at the age of 18 years old.  Josh also gained much experience raising sheep for lamb production,  Lambing out approximately 70-80 lambs in a 5 year span.  In 2018, with the creation of Red Ledge Farm, Josh is turning his focus to the Mangalitsa breed of pig and making the highest quality pork available to local consumers.

Jared

Each year Jared takes on more responsibilities around the farm.  He is growing up learning how to properly raise animals from chickens to pigs and most recently, turkeys.  Jared has taken the lead with our adventure into raising turkeys.  He is learning the benefits of heritage breeds of livestock and the importance of locally raised meat.

Brianna

Brianna is our expert piglet greeter.  When new piglets are born, she is the first to cuddle up with them and comfort them.  She is very eager to have more duties on the farm, as she is very independent.  She helps feed and water all the animals each week.
