Josh and Sarah

Josh has been raising animals for food since 2005.  It started with laying hens, meat chickens and then quickly transitioned into a few cattle and then a breeding flock of sheep.  He dove into many different things on 1 acre of his parent’s land.  Coming from a family who didn’t farm or raise their own animals for food, every lesson was learned the hard way.  Josh learned how to harvest, cut and wrap pork, beef and chicken.  He has provided that service to customers in various capacities since 2007.  In 2018 he turned his focus to pork production when Red Ledge Farm was established.  The pork production focus turned into an operation that sold 10-20 piglets, 5-10 pig roast pigs and 20-30 market sized pigs each year.  This involved controlling every step of the process to include, breeding, raising, harvesting and processing pork for the customers.  In 2025 the pork production stopped and the business turned to teaching others how to be self sufficient.  Due to his experience, raising animal’s for meat is his specialty with emphasis on fencing, breeding, growing, harvesting and butchering.  All of his experience is with raising animals on a budget with access to a small amount of land.
We both have full time jobs and choose to homestead as a way to be self sufficient.  We have four kids who eat a lot and we want them to be raised eating the best food possible.  The only way we can assure that, is to raise it on our own.  We look forward to teaching you so that you can do the same.
